THE COMMISSION

We’re inviting you to submit an expression of interest to create a temporary outdoor stage structure for Brainchild Festival’s 7th year, this summer 2019.

The Shack has always been the heart of dance music at Brainchild, with DJs playing everything from tropical to garage, house, afrobeat, techno, broken beat and more. It’s become a much-loved place where illustration, installation art, architecture and electronic music all combine, be it in relaxed daytime DJ sets or late night dancing.

Nearly every year, Brainchild Festival has had a new and entirely new and bespoke Shack. It has evolved from a marquee tent to an anamorphic-like pink scaffold and polycarbonate structure to most recently a giant mesh archway. Now in our 7th year, we are looking to open up the opportunity for young designers to carry The Shack’s legacy forward with the design and build of a new structure
