At Brainchild Festival 2017 and at Platform Southwark this autumn, we brought our biggest and most ambitious art projects to life: Garden Spheres & Nexus Space. This page is a space to learn more about the artists who made the project and to explore their sketches, processes and plans.

We invited filmmaker James Bradley to make this short documentary about the project, featuring interviews with the artists and footage of the installations at the festival and at Platform Southwark.

PART 1: GARDEN SPHERES @ BRAINCHILD FESTIVAL

Emily Motto embarked upon an interpretation of Hieronymous Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights. Her ideas were very ambitious so we paired her up with carpenter and installation artist Ed Haslam. Inspired by their immersive and interactive piece Torus at Brainchild Festival 2016, we also invited Jack & Henry of Flow Conceptions into the mix. Their blend of backgrounds and abilities created this unique project: an audiovisual, interactive installation for the festival entitled Garden Spheres, which remained inspired by the organic and playful ideas in Bosch’s original artwork.

PART 2: NEXUS SPACE @ PLATFORM SOUTHWARK

Nexus Space took the project to a new level, allowing Ed, Emily, Jack and Henry to collaborate on every aspect from initial designs to final installation. We saw elements of all their different working styles come through in the final results, shown here.

Find out more about the ideas behind the project in our interview with the artists here.
