Consented: Rethinking Whiteness

Consented is a multimedia platform that publishes a quarterly magazine, hosts regular live panel discussions and workshops, as well as operating two school projects in South and East London. The aim of the project is to advance ideas and discussions about issues that rarely get mainstream attention, as well as taking these discussions to a bigger audience and to people who are not usually able to access them, which is the primary goal of the Consented Youth Project.

Consented will be presenting a workshop at Brainchild – ‘Rethinking Whiteness’. The aim of the workshop is to make people question what it means to be white through situating racial categories as social, rather than biological categories. We will ask participants to interrogate their own whiteness, consider who gets to be white and in what context, as well as asking participants to consider how they recreate the logic of race in their everyday lives.
