‘Notes from the Basement’ is a collaborative and experimental piece inviting writers and vocalists into a place for storytelling lifted with the movement of music.
The piece is inspired by intimate jam sessions held by artist And Is Phi in the sound heavy hug of a Deptford basement. There, music and song was given room to become a journey, with space for realisation, release, and break through. There was no tangible goal or form, just an open armed mood and communion.
Somewhere between narrative archs and intuitive detours ‘Notes from the Basement’ is an invitation into a hidden but very living place.
